Here's how to control services starting at boot-up in Linux Mint / Ubuntu:
1. Issue the following command at the terminal -
sudo apt-get install bum

2. After the installation is complete, click on 'Menu>Other>BootUp-Manager' to start the application.
3. The BootUp-Manager application will show summary of all the services that start at boot.
